Let's talk

Right from the beginning, Anita wanted to create a manufacturing company that could build opportunity, community and diversity. Doing what we can for the community and the environment is always top of mind in everything we do.

Committed to the environment

  • C-West head office and production facility operate in a LEED compliant building featuring motion sensing LED lighting, electric car chargers, bike racks, green spaces and energy saving features
  • We work with FSC certified distributors of raw materials
  • We recycle metal, aluminum, beverage containers, plastics, cardboard, zinc and paper.
  • We have diverted approximately 6-tonnes of waste from landfill
  • We are in the process of aligning with a tree planting service to help offset the wood we use in the shop.

Committed to an inclusive workplace

  • We provide equal opportunities and promotions to all employees.
  • We support the cabinetmaking apprenticeship program and promote education (CPA and CAD training).
  • Employee ages range from 18 years to over 65 years old.
  • While fluent in English, we also have employees that speak German, Mandarin, Cantonese, French, Creole and Khmer.

Committed to improving the lives of women

Some of the initiatives we support in our community:

emPOWER Women in Trades

We offer volunteer training through emPOWER Women in Trades. This program helps unemployed or marginally employed women with an interest in entering the trades sector. As one of emPOWER’s affiliates we are able to provide skills training and support to women looking to begin a career and secure entry-level employment in the trades industry.  Learn more about emPOWER Women in Trades.

The Noble Teahouse

The Noble Teahouse is a labour of love built to sponsor women who have successfully completed the Narrow Road Home recovery program. C-West donated a complete renovation for the tea house and continues to volunteer with the organization providing financial oversite and mentoring to the team. Take a look at the renovation of The Noble Teahouse.

Mount Royal University Interior Design

Providing work experience that can translate into future employment is very important to C-West. We are proud to offer internships (when possible) to senior interior design students from MRU. While here, students get 4 months of full-time employment (or 450 hours) where they are exposed to retail and corporate design as well as an understanding of the manufacturing that goes into creating retail experiences.

The Hospital Activity Book for Children

C-West started donating to this program that raises money to support; Make-A-Wish “Rope for Hope”, Speed Wishing, Stollery Radiothon, and more, because we knew the impact this could have on families in hospitals all across Canada. We are proud to continue our support through yearly donations. Join our efforts and donate to The Hospital Activity Book for Children.

Spontaneous Acts of Kindness

C-West management and employees also like to remain flexible and open when new opportunities for giving arise. For these corporate initiatives, we are looking for ways we as a company can come together to create an experience and create impact in our community. Last year, staff and suppliers came together to create Christmas stockings for residents in a long-term care home. We knew the impact COVID was having on keeping seniors from their families at Christmas and wanted to bring a spot of joy in a very hard year.
